This Refund Policy outlines our billing practices, cancellation procedures, and the limited circumstances under which refunds or remedies may be provided.

By subscribing to TradeLasso, You agree to the terms of this Refund Policy as part of our Terms of Service.

This Refund Policy explains how billing works, why we offer a 14-day free trial instead of a money-back guarantee, the circumstances under which refunds or remedies may be provided, and Your rights and responsibilities as a subscriber.

  • Trial-First Approach: We provide a fully functional 14-day free trial with no credit card required, allowing You to thoroughly evaluate our Service before making any financial commitment.
  • All Sales Are Final: Once You upgrade to a paid subscription after the trial period, all payments are non-refundable, except in the limited discretionary circumstances outlined in Section 7.
  • Cancellation Anytime: You may cancel Your subscription at any time, which will stop future billing. However, cancellation does not entitle You to a refund for the current billing period.
  • Discretionary Remedies: In exceptional cases of documented service disruptions, We may, at Our sole discretion, provide remedies such as subscription extensions or pro-rated refunds.

2. The 14-Day Free Trial Evaluation Period

2.1 Purpose of the Free Trial

TradeLasso provides a 14-day fully functional free trial with no credit card required. This trial period is specifically designed to allow You to:

  • Evaluate the accuracy and comprehensiveness of our screening data
  • Test all platform features, including batch screening, saved profiles, and export capabilities
  • Assess integration with Your existing compliance workflows
  • Determine whether the Service meets Your professional requirements

2.2 Full Access During Trial

During the trial period, You have access to all Pro-level features, including unlimited restricted party searches, batch screening, saved profiles, PDF and CSV exports, search history, and priority support.

2.3 No Credit Card Required

We do not require a credit card to start Your free trial. This ensures You can evaluate the Service without any financial commitment or risk of automatic charges.

2.4 Informed Consent to Purchase

By upgrading to a paid subscription after the trial, You acknowledge that You have had sufficient time to evaluate the Service, understand its capabilities and limitations, and are making an informed decision. You agree that all payments are non-refundable, except as outlined in Section 7.

2.5 Trial Limitations

The free trial is available once per user or organization. Creating multiple accounts to repeatedly access the trial is prohibited and may result in account suspension.


3. Payment Processing via Paddle

3.1 Paddle as Merchant of Record

All payments are processed by Paddle.com Market Limited ("Paddle"), our authorized reseller and Merchant of Record. When You purchase a subscription, the transaction is between You and Paddle. TradeLasso does not store or have access to Your full payment card details.

3.2 Refund Processing

Any approved refunds will be processed by Paddle and are subject to Paddle's standard processing timelines (typically 5-10 business days), terms and conditions, and the payment method used for the original transaction.


4. Subscription Types and Billing

4.1 Available Plans

  • Monthly Subscription: $49/month, billed every 30 days, auto-renews unless canceled
  • Annual Subscription: $490/year (~$40.83/month), billed once every 12 months, auto-renews unless canceled

4.2 Billing Process

Subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing cycle unless You cancel before the renewal date. If a payment fails, Paddle will attempt to retry the charge. Persistent failure may result in subscription suspension.

4.3 When Payments Are Earned

Monthly payments are earned in full upon processing (access for 30 days). Annual payments are earned in full upon processing (access for 12 months). Because the 14-day free trial precedes any paid commitment, all payments are considered final once processed.

4.4 No Partial Billing

We do not offer partial-month or partial-year billing. If You cancel mid-cycle, You will not receive a pro-rated refund but will retain access until the end of Your current billing cycle.


5. No-Refund Policy

5.1 All Sales Are Final

All subscription payments are non-refundable, except in the limited discretionary circumstances outlined in Section 7.

This no-refund policy applies regardless of:

  • Partial use of the Service
  • Account inactivity or non-use
  • Failure to cancel before an auto-renewal date
  • Subjective dissatisfaction with the Service
  • Changes in Your business needs or compliance requirements
  • Availability or accuracy of third-party government data sources
  • Your inability to integrate the Service with Your existing systems

5.2 Rationale

We offer a 14-day fully functional free trial with no credit card required specifically to allow You to thoroughly evaluate the Service before making any financial commitment. By upgrading after the trial, You confirm that You have completed Your evaluation and are satisfied.

5.3 Monthly Subscriptions

Monthly subscription payments are non-refundable under all circumstances. Once a billing cycle begins, the fee is earned in full.

5.4 Annual Subscriptions

Annual subscription payments are non-refundable under all circumstances. Once an annual payment is processed, the fee is earned in full for the entire 12-month period.

5.5 No Exceptions for Subjective Dissatisfaction

We do not provide refunds based on subjective dissatisfaction. The 14-day free trial is specifically designed to address these concerns before You commit to a paid subscription.


6. Cancellation Policy

6.1 Right to Cancel Anytime

You may cancel Your subscription at any time through Your account dashboard or by contacting support.

6.2 How to Cancel

  1. Via Dashboard: Log in to Your account, navigate to Settings > Subscription, and click Cancel Subscription.
  2. Via Support: Contact Our support team with Your account email and Paddle receipt number.

6.3 Effect of Cancellation

  • Future Billing Stops: You will not be charged for future billing cycles.
  • Access Continues: You retain full access until the end of Your current billing period.
  • No Refund: Cancellation does not trigger a refund for the current billing period.
  • Data Retention: Your data is retained according to our Privacy Policy.

6.4 Cancellation vs. Refund

Important: Canceling Your subscription is not the same as requesting a refund. Cancellation stops future billing; a refund (if eligible) returns money for the current period.

6.5 Reactivation

If You cancel and later wish to reactivate, You may resubscribe at current rates. You will not be eligible for another free trial.


7. Discretionary Remedies for Service Disruptions

7.1 General Principle

While all sales are generally final, TradeLasso may, at its sole discretion, provide a remedy in the event of a documented, prolonged platform malfunction that prevents You from performing critical compliance screenings.

7.2 Qualifying Disruptions

A qualifying service disruption means:

  • Platform Malfunction: A technical failure on TradeLasso's end that renders the Service substantially unusable
  • Prolonged Duration: More than 24 consecutive hours or cumulative downtime exceeding 48 hours within a billing cycle
  • Documented: Reported to support during the disruption and confirmed in Our system logs
  • Critical Impact: Prevents essential screening functions

7.3 Non-Qualifying Disruptions

The following do not qualify: scheduled maintenance, user-side issues (connectivity, browser), third-party data source unavailability, minor bugs, feature limitations, or force majeure events.

7.4 Available Remedies

  • Subscription Extension: We add days to Your billing cycle equal to the disruption period.
  • Pro-Rated Refund: A partial refund for the specific duration of the failure (e.g., 3 days of downtime on a $49/month subscription ≈ $4.90).

7.5 How to Request a Remedy

  1. Report the Issue: Contact support with Your account email, description, date/time, and screenshots.
  2. Documentation: We will investigate and review system logs.
  3. Decision: We will notify You within 5-7 business days. Our decision is final.

7.6 No Guarantee of Remedy

Provision of any remedy is entirely discretionary. We are not obligated to provide a remedy even if a disruption occurs.


8. Billing Errors and Disputes

8.1 Reporting Errors

If You believe there has been a billing error (double charge, wrong amount, charge after canceling), contact Us immediately with Your account email, Paddle receipt number, description, and supporting documentation.

8.2 Investigation

If We confirm an error, We will issue a refund via Paddle, correct the issue, and notify You of the resolution.

8.3 Timeframe

Please report billing errors within 60 days of the charge. We may not be able to resolve errors reported after this timeframe.


9. Abuse, Fraud, and Policy Violations

We reserve the right to deny any refund or remedy request if We suspect abuse of the platform (bulk screening followed by cancellation), fraudulent activity (stolen payment methods, multiple accounts), or policy violations. Violations may result in account suspension or termination, denial of pending requests, refusal of future services, and legal action.


10. Chargebacks and Unauthorized Disputes

10.1 Contact Us First

Before initiating a chargeback, please contact Us to resolve any billing concerns. We are committed to addressing legitimate issues promptly.

10.2 Consequences of Chargebacks

If You initiate a chargeback: Your account will be suspended immediately, We will contest unwarranted chargebacks, You may be responsible for chargeback fees ($15-$25), and fraudulent chargebacks may result in a permanent ban.


11. Changes to Subscription Plans

11.1 One Active Subscription

Each user account may hold only one active subscription at a time. To change Your billing cycle, You must use the plan switching feature in Your account dashboard rather than purchasing a new subscription. Duplicate subscriptions are not permitted and will be blocked.

11.2 Upgrading (Monthly to Annual)

When You upgrade from monthly to annual billing:

  • The change takes effect immediately.
  • Paddle calculates a pro-rated credit for the unused days remaining in Your current monthly billing cycle.
  • This credit is applied toward the annual subscription fee.
  • You are charged the annual rate minus the pro-rated credit.
  • Your new annual billing cycle begins immediately from the date of the switch.

Example: If You are 15 days into a $49/month cycle and switch to annual ($490/year), Paddle credits approximately $24.50 for the remaining 15 days and charges $490 − $24.50 = $465.50.

11.3 Downgrading (Annual to Monthly)

When You downgrade from annual to monthly billing:

  • The change takes effect at the end of Your current annual billing period.
  • You retain full Pro access until Your annual period expires.
  • No refund is provided for the unused portion of the annual subscription.
  • Monthly billing begins automatically after Your annual period ends.

This policy ensures that You receive the full value of the annual discount You committed to. If You wish to stop service entirely, You may cancel Your subscription instead (see Section 6).

11.4 No Refunds for Plan Changes

Changing Your billing cycle does not entitle You to a refund for the current billing period, except for the pro-rated credit applied during upgrades as described in Section 11.2. All plan changes are processed through Paddle and are subject to Paddle's proration calculations.


12. Taxes and Currency

Paddle, as the Merchant of Record, handles calculating, collecting, and remitting applicable taxes (VAT, sales tax, GST) based on Your billing address. In some jurisdictions, displayed prices include taxes; in others, taxes are added at checkout. Currency conversion fees may apply and are determined by Paddle and Your payment provider.


13. Changes to This Refund Policy

We reserve the right to update this Refund Policy at any time. We will notify You of material changes by posting the updated policy, updating the "Last Updated" date, sending email notification, and displaying a prominent notice. Changes take effect immediately upon posting unless otherwise stated.

You further acknowledge that You have had the opportunity to evaluate the Service during the 14-day free trial period, all subscription payments are non-refundable except as outlined above, and You understand the cancellation process and its effects.
