TradeLasso

No Results & ITAR Questions

What to make of a clean screening result, and how TradeLasso fits into ITAR and EAR compliance.

My search returned no results — what does that mean?

A result of No matches found (Clean) means TradeLasso did not find any entries in the U.S. Consolidated Screening List that matched your search query above the current match threshold.

This can happen for several reasons:

  • The entity you searched is genuinely not on any CSL list
  • The entity is listed under a different name or spelling than the one you searched
  • The entity appears on a list not covered by the CSL (e.g., EU sanctions, UN list)
  • The match threshold is set too high and a near-match exists below it

Note

If you receive no results but have reason to suspect your counterparty may be restricted, try searching name variations, reduce the match threshold, or check the official OFAC and BIS search tools directly.

Does TradeLasso cover ITAR?

Partially. TradeLasso screens against the AECA Debarred List, which is administered by the U.S. Department of State's Directorate of Defense Trade Controls (DTC). This list is directly relevant to ITAR — it identifies parties who have been debarred from participating in the export or import of defense articles and defense services.

However, ITAR compliance involves much more than entity screening:

  • Determining whether your product or technology is a "defense article" or "defense service" under the U.S. Munitions List (USML)
  • Obtaining required State Department licenses (DSP-5, DSP-73, etc.)
  • Managing Technical Assistance Agreements (TAAs) and Manufacturing License Agreements (MLAs)
  • Nationality and end-use screening beyond entity list checking
  • Detailed record-keeping requirements

Important

If your product or technology is ITAR-controlled, entity screening is only a small part of your compliance obligation. You should work with a qualified ITAR attorney or registered consultant to build a complete ITAR compliance program.

Does TradeLasso cover EAR?

Yes — TradeLasso screens against all three BIS lists that are most relevant to EAR compliance: the Entity List, Denied Persons List, andUnverified List. These are the primary BIS restricted party lists for export control purposes.

EAR compliance also includes commodity classification (determining your ECCN), license requirements by destination and end-use, and country control checks. TradeLasso handles entity screening — the other components require separate analysis.

What if I need to screen against EU or UN lists?

TradeLasso currently covers U.S. government lists only. If your business requires screening against EU sanctions, UN Security Council lists, or other non-U.S. regimes, you will need to use an additional screening tool or service that covers those lists.
