Understanding Results
How to read a TradeLasso result page and what each field on a result card means.
Result outcomes
Every search produces one of two outcomes:
Clean — No matches found
No entries in the Consolidated Screening List matched your search query above the match threshold. The search is recorded as clean in your audit trail.
Important
A clean result does not mean the entity is cleared for all purposes. It means no close name matches were found in the CSL at the time of the search. Always apply reasonable due diligence alongside screening results.
Hit — Matches found
One or more entries in the CSL matched your search query above the threshold. Each match is displayed as a result card. You must review each card and determine whether the matched entity is the same party you are screening.
Anatomy of a result card
Each result card contains the following fields:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Entity Name | The name of the entity as it appears on the government list |
| Source List | Which of the 13 CSL lists this entry comes from (e.g., OFAC SDN, BIS Entity List) |
| Match Score | A 0–100 score indicating how closely the name matches your query. See Match Scores Explained. |
| Addresses | Known address(es) for the entity as published on the list. Not all entries have addresses. |
| Alternative Names | Known aliases, trade names, or alternate spellings published on the list |
| License Policy | The export license policy that applies to this entity (e.g., "Presumption of Denial", "Case by Case"). Only populated for BIS Entity List entries. |
| Title | For individuals, the title or position listed in the government record, where available |
Reviewing a match for false positives
Not every match is the party you are screening. Common names and phonetically similar names can generate false positives. When you see a hit, compare the following:
- Address — Does the country or city match what you know about your counterparty?
- Alternate names — Are any aliases consistent with the name your counterparty uses?
- Industry context — Does the nature of the listed entity align with your counterparty's industry?
- Date of listing — Is the listing recent enough to be relevant?
If you cannot conclusively determine whether the match is the same party, consult a qualified export compliance professional before proceeding.
